Daffodil Hill

Steve & Pat, Susan & Bob, John, Pat, Margaret and Phyllis headed out from Lake County Saturday morning....Suzanne & Larry began the ride from Wilton with Steve Burcher.

Awesome day for a ride. Arriving at Daffodil Hill we found a CHP officer directing traffic because their were so many people enjoying themselves. Fortunately they had motorcycle specific parking!

After approximately an hour Pat & Steve headed back to Lake County while the remainder of the group rode to Jackson for the night. Steve Burcher headed home after guiding us back to Jackson.

A big thank you to everyone who participated and led!

March 18 Ride

Eight motorcycles made the ride to Covelo - another awesome weather day for motorcycling, a little cooler then yesterday with a little wind.

Once we got to Covelo we discovered there really isn't any reason to be there! However, we checked out June Marie's Western store. Some of the group found some interesting things to buy.

We headed back to Willits for lunch at the Yum Yum Tree. After lunch we went to the Phoenix Bakery. Lots of good things to eat. Discussion was that in the future we would simply eat at the Phoenix and save a stop.

Fuel prices at the Safeway in Willits started at $2.99 - and if you use your Safeway card you get a discount of $0.03 to $0.10 per gallon (the larger amount is for people who have shopped for groceries in excess of $50 in one visit).

March 11 Ride

Today there were 19 motorcycles for the ride to Maxwell. In the future we need to make sure the road captain actually knows how to get to the destination BEFORE the actual turn!

After lunch at the Maxwell Inn Steve Sayer led us on a ride to the South Butte area in Sutter County. From Maxwell we rode on Hwy 45 to Hwy 20 to S. Butte to E. Butte to N. Butte to W Butte Rd. Lots of twisties, good pavement and no hills - plenty of other motorcycles, bicycles and Sunday drivers, but not too much traffic. We rode 80 miles around the butte before returning to Colusa for a beverage stop.

We then rode back to Lake County via Hwy 20 - some riders headed "home" and others stopped in Clearlake Oaks for dinner at the Happy Garden before riding home.

For Larry & me it was a 250 mile day.

March 10 Ride to Jelly Belly

Seven of us road over 200 miles yesterday, the majority of which were twisties. The weather could not have been better for riding - warm and no wind.

We left Kelseyville at 9:30 - road Hwy 29 as far as Silverado Trail in Napa County. Road Silverado Trail to Hwy 12, a short ride on I-80 to the Jelly Belly Factory in Fairfield. If you have never visited the Jelly Belly Factory it is a fun stop. Their tour is interesting and there are free samples (as well as belly flops 8 lbs for $16!).

After leaving Jelly Belly we headed for Sandy's 101 Omelets - then off home via twisties around Lake Berryessa, up Pope Valley to Butts Canyon, over Hwy 175 and back to Hwy 29.

Lots of motorcycles - only a hand full of Goldwings. The sports bikes were friendly---almost all of them waved!

March 3-4 Rides

Lynn & Jana, Steve & Pat, Susan, Bob, Steve Biggs, Larry, Suzanne, Bob Jordan and John rode to River Rock Casino on the 3rd.....lovely ride. After arriving at River Rock we were told it would be 45 minutes to get into the buffet. Decided too long and too smoky.

Susan & Bob left the group and rode to Calistoga for Mexican food.

The remainder of the group opted to return to Cloverdale and try for lunch at PK's Cafe. News is Pk's isn't open on Saturdays either! We rode on to the Hamburger Ranch and Pasta Farm....yummy food!

On leaving Cloverdale we rode to Ukiah for a stop at the Cold Stone Creamery before continuing home.

On Sunday an impromptu ride began at the Moose Lodge in Clearlake Oaks (Steve & Pat, Larry & Suzanne tried their breakfast buffet. A well spent $7 each!)

Steve & Pat, Bob & Carol, John, Chuck, Larry, Suzanne, Don Whittier and friend Starr, and Dennis left the Moose Lodge after 12 p.m. to check out where Hartmann Road goes....nowhere. We turned around and head toward Middletown and checked out Grange Road....it too dead ends to private property.

New plan - head back toward Lower Lake via Big Canyon Road. As we left Middletown the sign read "Closed to through traffic due to unsafe road conditions." Well, the condition of the road was bad, but the condition of the bridges were better than most in Lake County.

Another very nice day for a ride!
